Still getting away with the water on for another week or so. Propane ran out though so we're down to cold water. Sponge baths have ensued! We're going though wood a little faster than expected, but we got our firewood permit and can collect 5 cords on the $20 permit. So we're going out tomorrow to get the first load and we're cutting down our own Christmas tree.
Our 55 gallon drums of water froze in the garage on the concrete floor, so we brought them inside the front porch/breezeway area. We're also planning on getting tongs of gallon jugs and 5 gallon jugs and storing them upstairs. Those will be easier to access anyway. We've insulated the windows and cleaned out the outhouse. We have an extra fridge in the garage now as well as our chest freezer that we've been filling up with soups and fish fillets. Our oven broke, but we have a toaster oven now its nice not being able to bake or make pizzas. Trying to eat healthy (except for our bacon binge after going to the local meat shop-we even got chocolate covered bacon and bacon brats....hubba, hubba.)
Saw the most amazing sunset the other night! Will be painting it sometime in oils, probably after Christmas. Heading home in about 10 days for early Christmas with my family. The river is iced over now and everything is covered in snow, its so pretty here in the winter!
