Plein air painting is the act of painting on sight out in nature while trying to capture the landscape, the mood of the atmosphere and the light. The man we are staying with has plein air watercolored for 40+ years and has his life documented in his paintings. He's taking me out to plein air watercolor at Broke off Meadow (post to come.)
Ive also linked up with some plein air oil painters and are starting classes with them. Last week one of them, Susan Greaves invited me to paint with her at Mary Lake. I went and just kind of jumped into this painting before having instruction. It wasn't her time to teach, it was her relaxing painting time and she invited me to share it with her. She gave me some basic info on how to start & I just kind of went for it! :) I've included a photo of mine, and a photo of hers from last Friday. I've got a LOT to learn, but it will be fun to see the progression week by week.
